Neanderthal

Dude Neanderthals were fucking metal

Dude neanderthals weren’t our ancestors. Neither are a lot of those I would imagine. They’re other species of hominids. We have evolved from one, maybe two of those, but definately not neanderthals. Neanderthals were arround at the same time as our ancestors, and it’s believed there was some cross breeding, so some people may have a little bit of neanderthal in them, but neandetrthals went exctinct thounsands and thousands of years ago. We didn’t evolve from them. They are a seperate, but related species.

Neanderthals died out during the rise of Homo sapiens and their colonisation of Europe. Undoubtedly the two species came into contact, but Homo sapiens’ superior instinct and revolutionary intelligence allowed them to win out at the beginning of the Ice Age.

Exactly. Despite the fact Neanderthals were a more robust species, the brain capacity of the Homo sapiens was much higher, meaning they were better addapted to survive.

There are some very active debates concerning the brain capacity of Neanderthals generally, their brains were actually larger than the brains of homo sapiens, but it’s thought that their capacity for language may not have been as advanced.

They also may have not been very advanced socially. One hypothesis is that they were out-competed for resources because they couldn’t share information as efficiently as homo-sapiens, that basically the fact that homo sapiens were more advanced socially and culturally gave them the competitive edge.

Valuable commentary is valuable.
